WavelengthMinimum distance between two consecutive points on a

Amplitude The maximum displacement of a wave from equilibrium.
Progressive wave A pattern of disturbances carrying energy through a
medium.
In phase Points on waves with the same frequency and displacement..
Transverse Wave A wave in which particle oscillate at right angles to the
direction of wave travel.
Longitudinal wave A wave in which particles oscillate in the same
direction as wave travel.
Polarised wave A transverse wave in which particle oscillations occur in
only one direction at right angles to the direction of wave propagation
(travel).
Wave frequency The frequency of a wave is the number of
cycles/oscillations of a wave that pass a given point in one second.
Wave speed The distance a wave moves per unit time.
Current Rate of flow of charge.
% Efficiency Useful energy out / total energy in
Potential difference The energy converted from electrical potential
energy to some other form per coulomb of charge
Emf The energy converted from some other form (e.g. chemical in a cell)
to electrical potential energy per coulomb of charge.
Ohm's Law The current in a metal wire at constant temperature is
proportional to the pd across it. (I=V/R)
Superconducting transition temperature The temperature at which a
material, when cooled, loses all its electrical resistance, and becomes
super-conducting. Some materials (e.g. copper) never become
superconducting however low the temperature.
