Why did you request an AAC evaluation?
Well, Jordan was diagnosed with cerebral palsy in 201 0, which is
typically not a progressive disease, but what we were finding is
that she was progressing into having difficulties walking, talking,
and prior to the evaluation a couple of years ago, she was able to
speak two- to three-word sentences, and that declined, and we

were wondering what was going on, so we had some genetic
testing done and found out that she does not have cerebral palsy;
she has what's called spastic paraplegia, which is a progressive
disease, and it's... Her particular mutation is very rare, and there's
not a lot of literature on it. So this is one of the reasons why we
wanted to be able to support her and allow her to communicate
better with us and her friends.

Describe Jordan's current therapies.
Currently, she's getting all the therapies at school, your speech
therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy. Outside private
therapies, we are getting physical therapy, occupational therapy,
she does a hippotherapy, which is the therapy on the horse. And
she also has the swimming once a week, which she's amazing at.

Describe Jordan's previous therapies.
Therapies in the past. Well, she started out with pretty much all the
same that I just spoke, and she's continued that throughout her
entire life really since about six months old. The only therapy we're
not doing now is the developmental therapy.

What are your goals for your child?
I want her to be a happy girl. I want her to be happy. I want her to
be free to communicate however she can and not be frustrated
and just to be able to sit on this couch with her family and tell us
exactly what she needs without us getting that look of frustration
and making her upset because we can't figure out what she wants.
