Worship; Liturgical, non-liturgical and informal
Liturgical Worship
Liturgical worship is worship in accordance with the liturgy, essentially a church service for
Christians. At Liturgical worship, people may sing hymns, pray and recite set responses to
readings. Liturgical worship makes Christians feel connected to the church in these ceremonies as
they hold tradition which is unchanged over many years.

Non Liturgical Worship

Non liturgical worship is structureless and informal. Prayers can be recited by the speaker from his
own mind and it does not follow with any biblical readings. Furthermore, the sermon is generally the
largest part of non-liturgical worship as it comes straight from the mind of the speaker.

Informal worship

Informal worship focuses on the adoration of God and can take place outside a church. Informal
worship services often attract hundreds of people and may be held in large auditoriums. The music
used during informal worship is popular and modern in style, and often involves instruments.

Private Worship

Private worship can be liturgical or non-liturgical, but is often said at home. It includes things such
as saying grace before a meal, or reading a Biblical passage. Private worship can bring people
personally close to God as it expresses their personal needs.

Prayer
There are 5 main forms of prayer; ACTS
Adoration – Praise
Confession – Apologizing
Thanksgiving – Saying thanks to God
Supplication – Asking for something

The meaning of the sacraments

Sacraments are an outward physical act of an inward spiritual grace or
blessing. Sacraments can also be referred to as blessings that are received in
an important ceremony. They are liturgical as they are traditionalized over a
long time period, in which tradition has remained the same.

, Sacraments are important in all denominations of the Christian church, as they
are considered important parts in people's lives as Christians. The Sacraments
often provide opportunities to receive blessings from God.

Infant/Believers Baptism

Believers Baptism
Baptists and Pentecostals believe that the sacrament of baptism should only take place when a
person has become an adult, which is called believers baptism. The receiver is fully submerged in
this type of baptism.

Infant Baptism

There are different elements to a baptism service, including promises made by
Godparents on behalf to the child to reject evil. In addition, at the end of the ceremony the
priest gives a lit candle to the child’s guardians to keep for the child, which symbolizes
receiving the light of Christ.

Anointing of the sick (catholic sacrament)
The anointing of the sick sacrament is the final of the 7 catholic sacraments. It is given to people who
are terminally ill, or at risk of becoming even more ill. It is only done by a priest in hospitals, or for
those who are more sick it can be done at home.

The sacrament is a testimony to Jesus' life, who always cared for the sick, such as curing the blind,
restoring the deaf and even raising the dead.

Why?

 The sacrament spiritually comforts the sick, as they receive Gods holy blessing.
 They have sin taken away, so they are in a pure state to enter heaven.
 They become less anxious about death.
 Gives them strength and courage to accept death.
