• Self-esteem is how you value yourself.
• Self-motivation is what drives you to succeed.
• Both affect how you see yourself and your abilities.
• Healthy self-esteem builds confidence and resilience.
FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE SELF-ESTEEM AND SELF-MOTIVATION
FAMILY
• Loving and supportive families build a positive self-image.
FRIENDS AND PEERS
• Acceptance and positive friendships increase self-confidence.
ENVIRONMENT AND COMMUNITY
• Safe and supportive communities encourage healthy self-esteem .
FAITH
• Faith provides guidance, discipline, and a sense of self-worth.
CULTURE AND TRADITION
• Values and beliefs shape behaviour and self-esteem.
MEDIA
• Media can influence self-esteem in positive or negative ways.
POSITIVE SELF-TALK
• Positive self-talk means encouraging yourself.
• It helps change negative thoughts.
• It improves confidence, learning, and self-worth.
EXAMPLE
• Negative thought: I don’t know how to ask for help.
• Positive thought: I will take one step at a time.
