What can different generations teach/learn from each other?
Each generation has something both to offer and learn the biggest difference is
between the older and youngest workers.

The older generation to young:

The oldest generation have experience to offer for example older workers know the
industry and have plenty of knowledge they can share.

The older can teach interpersonal skills to the young workers although the young may
be up to date with their technological skills the older can teach them more basic
workplace skills such as common courtesy and team play.

The younger to older:

The younger generation can help with the use of new technology i.e. computers, till
systems or any other electronic devices within the industry its most likely the younger
generation know how to use them and if not are willing to learn and pass on what they
know.

Younger workers offer diversity coming from many diverse households and backgrounds
they offer a wider view on perspectives which can often open older workers eyes to the
ever-changing times.

Three things the workplace has done or could do to make its facilities and
services more accessible to people, particularly those with special
requirements?

 Physical access:
There are access ramps available onsite to both the main buildings and the Loft,
Disabled toilets available and Lifts in operation for those who cannot use the
stairs.

 Assisted aids:
Special equipment can be ordered to help assist in daily activities such as a
perching stool can be used to help those who cannot stand for long periods of
time.

 The company could allow for flexible working to allow the disabled employee
additional breaks to help with tiredness or time out to hospital appointments
concerned with their condition.

, What would you do if you found yourself in a situation of conflict?

How would you handle the situation?

It is important to remain calm and not cast blame in situations of conflict as
disagreements can quickly spiral out of control. The steps I would use to
handling the situation are

 Acknowledge that there is a problem
 Listen to the other persons thoughts and feelings
 Find the common ground we can both agree on and work from there if unable to
reach an agreement then HR may be asked to be involved to mediate.

How would you resolve the conflict?

To reach a resolution to the conflict once common ground has been established
its important to
 Apologise for any wrongdoing this is not to accept the blame but to take
responsibility for my contribution to the situation
 Develop a plan of action to go forward with through finding compromise
and communicating with each other more effectively i.e. Discussing and
brainstorming any issues or suggestions in which changes can be made.
 The last step is to follow up and implement any changes which were
decided on. Once the changes have been implemented the conflict will be
resolved.

If someone (either via social media or face to face) tried to influence you
into doing something that could lead to extremist or criminal behaviours
what would you do?

If somebody tried to influence me face to face I would respond to them and make it
perfectly clear I was not interested if they were to insist I would then ignore them and
report to the police.

If somebody contacted me via social media I would not respond but keep a record and
evidence of what was said to report to the police.

To prevent misunderstandings, list two things that you can do to ensure you
actually “listen” to what is being said?

Two things that can be done to ensure you are actively listening to what is being
said is
