Leadership Skills and Management Skills Present In Me
There’s a thin line between leadership and management, which can be very confusing.
There are some skills I will discuss that differentiate between leadership skills and management
skills. First, interpersonal skills, a manager's communication demonstrates power over daily
process and coworkers. Leadership, on the contrary, demands are very direct, frequent, and clear.
This shows their passion, commitment, and compassion. The way I interact with people differs
between my position as Labor & Delivery charge nurse and my role as a Clinical Laboratory
Instructor. As a result, I have the ability to decipher the differences between my leadership and
management skills very well. My Clinical Laboratory course is well-regulated, I construct the
whole program and supervise finances, scheduling, and ensure that my students are able to
thoroughly understand the course. In my role, I make sure that operations flow smoothly and
know hiccups in the course. As a charge nurse on my unit, leadership skills are essential to fulfill
my role. My communication with my coworker has to be very direct and consistent. I have to
provide encouragement and more importantly provide tactile feedback. On contrast, I delegated
tasks with my Clinical Lab course to ensure the course run smoothly.
Secondly, collaboration skills, some managers do things their own way. Managers can be
very confident and trust their own experiences and expertise. Managers use declarative
statements to discuss topics then the team is asked if they agree or disagree. As a Clinical
Laboratory Instructor, I conduct meetings with my students as a group and then ask whether
everyone agrees, and next I get them to sign a form indicating that they agree and attended the
conference. As a manager, I delegate what I believe to be the best approach for the course. In
contrast, Leaders value collaboration, trusted input and listen attentively on certain topic and
