1st Slide - Title slide
- PTSD found in veterans and individuals who served in military / suicide prevention
2nd Slide - Objective Slide
- The objective of this presentation is to examine the effects of PTSD on those who have
served in the military / veterans and how that plays a role in suicide/ suicide prevention
- PTSD has affected veterans in many ways causing difficulties in many areas of life
- Provide a comprehensive prevention plan to help reduce the rates of suicide found in this
population
3rd Slide - Introduction to target population
https://www.ptsd.va.gov/professional/treat/cooccurring/suicide_ptsd.asp
- “Veterans who experienced combat trauma, the highest relative suicide risk is observed
in those who were wounded multiple times and/or hospitalized for a wound”

- Veterans experience an intense amount of anxiety, depression, and other
intrusive thoughts that make living daily life very hard

4th Slide - Why is this population at greater risk, describe risk factors

- The reason that US veterans are at a higher risk than other groups for PTSD is because of
the direct trauma they experience. The job of an individual in the US military is treacherous to
say the least. They’re exposed to death, injury, and mass casualties.

5th Slide - How will the program identify those at greater risk

- By identifying the people in these subgroups via social media, US veterans seeking
recovery from PTSD, and treatments available, we can provide an anonymous platform
for individuals to join.

6th Slide - Barriers to help

- There is stigma behind seeking help, especially in this subgroup which prides themselves
on strength and persistence. To avoid the shame or mental roadblocks that the patients might
experience, the platform will be made anonymous to encourage people to apply.

7th slide- Eliminating Barriers
