RTA 211: Production Theory // Dana Lee
Lecture 10: 1 of 2
Transmission:
Transmission:
AM: amplitude modulation
FM: frequency modulation
All it is is taking a frequency we can't hear and taking that wave and modulating it.
What makes up a transmitter??
- An antenna
- An oscillator
- A powerful amplifier to connect the two.
- A modulator
- A microphone
FM
100 MHz (on your FM dial)
Wavelength
=
= 3 Meters (about 10ft)
**FM radio is horizontally polarized.**
AM
Wavelength = 300/ frequency
= 300/1
= 300 metres (about 1000 feet)
= about ⅓ of a kilometer
**AM radio is vertically polarized.**
How to pick up TV signals?
- Television antenna.
- Cable TV
- Satellite
