Narcissus fixation is interesting as remind us over obsessed with the
communicate with ourselves is somehow dangerous. As Mcluhan said that the printed
world allows us to have own communication with the written pieces, we do not have
to gather and get information from others. People create own world in their capacity.
Additionally, the development of technology such as social media is given a new
notion to imagine a group of people are with you or a space for you to build your
world. The lesser human interacting leads to a more self-centered consequence. It
reminds me the similar ideas of Gleick that the information will substitute signs for
things and later signs for signs. The information of the world does not disappear as
people try to live in their own space and interpret contact even the human interacting
is lesser, it still exists with another form of technology. However, it is danger for us if
people keep ruminating themselves individually that might cause narcissus fixation. I
think it is essential for us to build connection with others not only focus on our
interpretation to the world.
