The Very Hungry Caterpillar is an exceptional book that explores multiple math concepts
including numeration when counting how many of each item the very hungry caterpillar eats
each day (Schiller, Early Childhood Building Blocks). The book also explores the concept of
classification as each page groups a certain number of the same fruit in the first few pages of the
book and groups them together according to their similar attributes (Schiller, Early Childhood
Building Blocks). This book is an easy-to-follow counting book that has colourful illustrations on
every page.
