details they see in front of them (Ministry of Education, 2014).
Smell – While exploring the fruits and vegetables, the children can

The educator can again encourage the children to speak about what
they smell by asking questions.
Taste – Each child will have a selection of fruits and vegetables of
their own, it is not recommended that they taste them but if they
wanted to they could see what each one tasted like and how
different they were.
Touch – While exploring the fruits and vegetables, the children will
also have spoons to scoop out seeds or chunks of the foods to feel
textures as well as work on pincer or palmer grasps and practice
working with tools (Ministry of Education, 2014).
Sound – As the children scoop out chunks or seeds from the fruits
and vegetables, they will be able to hear the different noises they
make. The educator can ask the children what they hear as they are
scooping and encourage them to use vocabulary skills to share with
peers (Ministry of Education, 2014).
