 Suitable for preschool to school ages

 Little Critter explores his new life with his baby sister, with the help of his mom, he begins to

understand what he can do with his baby sister after trying some things on his own.

 One discussion starter could be to ask the children what they liked or disliked about the book.

 Another discussion starter could be to ask the children if they experienced similar situations if

they have smaller siblings and ask them to explain.

 To link the book to an activity, the children can engage in a baby doll activity to wash and dress

baby toys.

 Another way to link this to the curriculum can be to incorporate it into a circle and discuss it with

the class.

This book can be used with groups of children or even as a class circle story. The book can be read

before having a discussion on what to expect when having a little sibling on the way and what to do

to help mom and dad. For preschool-aged children, the book can be read during circle and used to

reference discussions on if the children experienced similar situations to Little Critter or if children

have little siblings on the way and how they feel about the change. For kindergarten-aged children,

this book can be used to begin a discussion on differences in family life and how children can begin

adapting to them. Linking this discussion to expressive activities where children can draw a picture

of their family and talking about what they drew will focus on these changes. This book is meant to

be an easy read and as such limits the activities that can be linked to the book because the story is
