FIN5570 - Chapitre 7
Méthodes d'évaluation des multiples

A) Multiple du bénéfice: P/E
(1) P/E donné par le marché (actuel)
(2) P/E justifié:
Forward => P0/E1 = (1 - b)/(r - g) <=> V0 = P0 = D1/(r - g) <=> P0/E1 = D1/(r - g) = (1 - b)/(r - g)
À
comparer
Trailing => [(1 - b)(1 + g)]/(r - g) = P0/E0 <=> V0 = P0 = [D0(1 + g)]/(r - g) <=> P0/E0 = [(D0/E0)(1 + g)]/(r - g) = [(1 - b)(1 + g)]/(r - g)
avec
l'actuel:
Régression linéaire => P/E = α + b1 * DPR + b2*(-β) + b3(EGR)

Si P/E actuel > P/E justifié => Titre surévalué
Si P/E actuel < P/E justifié => Titre sous-évalué par le marché

(3) (P/E)/g = PEGR (price earning growth ratio)
--> à calculer pour le titre
--> à comparer avec celui des comparables

Si PEG <= 1 => Titre sous-évalué
Si PEG > 1 => Titre surévalué

VT = P/E * EPSn

P/E = (1 - b)/[(rSR + (Rm - rSR) * βi) - g]
P/E = f [D/E (+), g (+), rSR (-), (Rm - rSR] (-), β (-)]

Exemple: Forward P/E (Earning Per Share)

Stock price 20,00 $ prix de l'action

Year 2016 2017

, Q1 0,18 $ 0,43 $
Q2 0,25 $ 0,48 $
Q3 0,32 $ 0,50 $
Q4 0,35 $ 0,59 $
Fiscal year forecast 1,10 $ 2,00 $
*Assume we are at the beginning of December 2016

EPS for the next four quarters = 0,35$ + 0,43$ + 0,48$ + 0,50$ = 1,76 $ ratio cours bénéfices
Forward P/E based on EPS for the next four quarters = 20$/1,76$ = 11,4 $

EPS for the next 12 months = (1/12)*1,10$ + (11/12)*2,00$ = 1,93 $
Forward P/E based on EPS for the next twelve months = 20$/1,925$ = 10,4 $

EPS for the current fiscal year = 1,10 $
Forward P/E based on EPA for the current fiscal year = 20$/1,10$ = 18,2 $

EPS for the next fiscal year = 2,00 $
Forward P/E based on EPA for the next fiscal year = 20$/2,00$ = 10,0 $

Exemple: Underlying Earnings

Reported EPS from previous four quarters 4,00 $ bénéfices par action
Restructuring charges 0,10 $ charges de restucturation
Amortization of intangibles 0,15 $ amortissement des actifs intangibles

Exemple: Normalized earnings
book value per share
Year EPS BVPS ROE
2015 0,66 $ 4,11 $ 16,10%
2014 0,55 $ 3,67 $ 15,00%
2013 0,81 $ 2,98 $ 27,20%
2012 0,73 $ 2,12 $ 34,40%
2011 0,34 $ 1,61 $ 21,10%

2016 stock price 24,00 $

1) Bénéfice par action historique: Method of historical average EPS
Average (normalized) EPS = (0,66$ + 0,55$ + 0,81$ +0,73$ + 0,34$)/5 = 0,618 $
Price earning (P/E) = 24$/0,618$ = 38,8 $

2) Méthode du ROE moyen: Method of average ROE
Average ROE = (16,1% + 15,0% + 27,2% + 34,4% + 21,1%)/5 = 22,8%
Average (normalized) EPS = Average ROE x Current equit BVPS = 0,935 $ (22,8% * 4,11$)
P/E = 24$/0,935$ = 25,7 $

ROE = BN / Avoir des Actionnaires = (WI/S) / (BV/S) = EPS/BVPS
