What are the Rejected Takeoff Procedures per -1?

○ PF: throttles- REV IDLE & brakes & symmetrical reverse thrust as
required
○ Charted stopping distance assumes max braking as soon as
possible and holding it until stopped
○ After stopping, check brake temps (peak may be 10-15 min later)

○ Remember: procedure for reject is to apply brakes as
required, but the TOLD assumes max effort braking on a reject.
Checking emergency return Vbo for departure reject planning is
a good technique for when you can expect to get hot
brakes but TOLD compliance calls for brakes. Pilot judgment
may lead to you determining that you can wait a bit before
braking if you're on a long runway, but that's all technique

,When is AFGS RTO function armed?

- WOW
- GDN SPLR switch to ARM
- Reverse thrust range logic is valid (which is when a rejected
takeoff is sensed by at least one left and one right throttle lever
being moved into the reverse range)

When do ground spoilers deploy on a rejected takeoff?

- If armed, they deploy when at least one left and one right throttle
lever is moved into the reverse range

When do the spoilers retract after a reject?

- Either both left or right throttles moved out of reverse range

- Spoilers are then retracted but remain armed

With the GND SPLR - ARMED, when is AGS RTO function re-armed
on a touch and go?

- TOGA switch is pressed
- Any three throttles advanced past 60 degrees
- Flaps/slats positioned in a new detent

,What is Vgo?

- Decision speed

- Calculated assuming runway available equals CFL for MAX thrust

(p. A-3). Lowest of Vrot, Vr, or Vbmax.

- Includes a 1.5 second delay to account for engine failure recognition.

What is Vrot?

- speed at which rotation to takeoff attitude is initiated by
apply back pressure

, What is Vbmax?

- Vbmax data assumed to not be limiting for MAX thrust (p. A-3).

- Highest speed from which the aircraft can be stopped without
exceeding the max design energy absorption capabilities of the
brakes.

- Uses the average BTMS temp, assumes max effort anti-skid
braking, full spoiler deployment, and three-engine reverse idle
thrust.

- (Can correct for 1 or 2 brakes inop, no/partial spoilers, wind,
runway slope, 2 eng symmetric max reverse thrust, & four engine
fwd idle thrust).

- Remember Vbmax is the highest speed at which the brakes will
work, but the fuse plugs may blow (above Vbo)

What is Vr?

- Refusal distance is the distance required to accelerate to
refusal speed with normal acceleration.

- Refusal speed is the maximum speed to which the aircraft can
accelerate and then stop in the available runway.

- Refusal speed is calculated assuming 1.5 seconds of continued
acceleration after engine failure to recognize the engine failure
and decide to stop
