Section 4: Program Administration & Evaluation of Other Mental Health Programs
1. Goals, Objectives, and Implementation
The article described the Community-Based Mental Health Intervention- Creating
Healthy Culture Program. The program integrated the principles of Community-based
Participatory Research (CBPR) to develop, implement, and evaluate the study and determine
its applicability in society. The program integrated a curriculum that included eight sessions.
The primary goals of the program were to help identify mental health problems and improve
the participants' general spiritual wellbeing. Another goal was to identify and address feelings
related to stress, anxiety, and trauma, all of which contribute to the development of
depression (Ali et al., 2022). The program also aims to improve the individual’s sense of
belonging with the community, and use spiritual aspects in alleviating complex mental health
issues in the Black American Community.
Faith-based organizations implemented the program, including Groundswell Group and
Network for Human Understanding, the New York University Grossman School of Medicine,
and community leaders. Seventeen peer educators were recruited from various congregations
in the Black communities in South American, Caribbean, and Central American communities
(Ali et al., 2022). The pilot intervention study was conducted between November 2020 and
February 20211.

the US have continually faced increasingly disproportionate outcomes due to the increasing
