Discussion Question One
Obtaining of the patient history is an important aspect in arriving at the effective
interventions for the patient. Ideally, the patient history gives information on the severity of the
disease, the duration which the patient has been experiencing the symptoms and the risk factors
that might contribute to the malfunction (Hussain et al, 2016).
. By asking questions to obtain information from the patient, the physician can ascertain
the appropriate interventions for the patient. Failure to ask the pertinent questions may result in
the provision of ineffective interventions for the patient. A close evaluation of Mrs. Cantu as the
chief complaint depicts that I failed to ask some of the vital questions.
One of the questions that I missed to ask the patient is; Are there any new changes
regarding your medications? This question is important when inquiring about the history of the
patient as it would aid in establishing the interventions that have already been given to the
patient. Additionally, the question would help in ascertaining the efficacy of the interventions
and further come up with effective therapies for the patient (Hussain et al, 2016).
Another important question that I failed to ask during the inquiry of the history of the
patient is; have you ever experienced any medical issues or diagnosis since your last visit? This
question is vital regarding the case under analysis since it would help to ascertain the therapies
and medications that work best for the patient. Additionally, the question would have helped in
ascertaining whether the patient demonstrates any reactions or side effects towards the earlier
medications. The question is also vital as it would have given me an opportunity to ascertain the
effective medications for the patient.
