Econometric Perspectives on Circular Economy
PROJECT WORK
[delivery date: 27 may 2025 - INDIVIDUAL TASK]
1. TEXT OF THE ASSIGNMENT
To carry out the individual project work, each student selects the dataset that most closely
reflects his or her own preferences, as an example from1 (but not limited to):
1. data sets freely available at the following link: https://www.kaggle.com/datasets
2. SDG data available at: https://unstats.un.org/sdgs/dataportal
3. Official institutional dataset freely available (eg. ISTAT, EUROSTAT, OECD, WORLD
BANK, FAO, etc)
4. Your own data set for analysis
DEFINITION OF THE PHENOMENON/TOPIC TO BE STUDIED (and the dataset to analyse): the definition
of the dataset should come from the choice of the topic/phenomenon to be studied.
Once the phenomenon to study is identified, the data set must include the following minimum
requirement:
a. At least 40/50 statistical units (countries, regions, individuals, firms, etc…); [the more the
better…]
b. At least 5/6 variables included in the dataset (it is preferrable to include quantitative variables).
The selection of the variables should be such that at least one quantitative variable can be
identified as dependent variable (endogenous variable, response variable) and the other
variables should be identified as explanatory variables.
c. It is preferrable to refer to cross-sectional data (one period as perspective of analysis);
The project must contain the following minimum sections in terms of structure (below possible
sections)2 and analysis:
1. INTRODUCTION: a short description of the phenomenon analysed, the state of the art and the
general aim of the research project;
a. Literature review is not mandatory but appreciated
b. AIM OF THE PROJECT/RESEARCH/PAPER: the research question/s: the aim of the
research
2. MATERIALS AND METHODS:
a. DATA DESCRIPTION: description of the dataset used, the variables included, the data
collection process (sampling scheme if appropriate) and the number of observations;
3. DATA ANALYSIS (RESULTS OF THE ANALYSIS): the results of descriptive analysis, association
analysis, tests and regression models (the complete output screen with coefficient estimates,
standard errors, p-value, goodness of fit index, etc…) conducted on your data should be
reported in this section.
4. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS
