Skeletal system will effectively maintain homeostasis since it is always regulating the
quantity of minerals such a calcium and others in blood by the storage as well as release
from bones when required. Another reason as to why skeletal system assists in homeostasis
in blood pH is since the mineral are basic. Bones are the main storage of approximately 99 %
of calcium and 85% phosphorus.
Skeletal systems are important in the production of blood cells such as red and white
produced in bone marrow. The red blood cells are vital to effectively carry oxygen around
the body as well as important nutrients like glucose. White blood cells are important as they
prevent us from getting infection. A process known as phagocytosis, ensures that pathogens
are engulfed when detected by WBC and destroyed with enzymes.
