The global development of technology has reinforced the adoption of digitalization in the healthcare sector. For instance, electronic health records have been incorporated into the healthcare delivery system to foster patient health information management. However, the introduction of this technology level has increased the risk of a data breach in privacy, security, and confidentiality aspects of health information. This necessity triggered the introduction of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which had the primary aim of regulating healthcare organizations to comply with patients' security, privacy, and confidentiality values (Edemekong, Annamaraju, & Haydel, 2020). A high interdisciplinary commitment to social media and electronic health records is a requirement for every healthcare provider to meet the standards demands of protecting patient rights, values, and preferences. Privacy, Security and Confidentiality Upholding confidentiality, security, and privacy should be providers' commitment to protecting health information; this aspect is commonly considered when dealing with social media platforms due to their exposure to the public domains. Privacy refers to respecting individual mechanisms put in place by patients to protect their health information (U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, 2017). This obligation is also providers' responsibility since they have access to the patient outcomes from the diagnosis process. Security refers to the strategies adopted by a healthcare organization of providers to protect medical records specific to patients.
