Wearable portable monitors are becoming more popular and are able to continuously monitor vital signs while allowing patients to be more ambulatory. “Wearable patient monitoring (WPM) systems are emerging as an effective tool for the prevention, early detection and management of chronic conditions” (Baig, Gholam, Hosseini, Moqeem, Mirza & Lindén, 2017). This topic was chosen to find out more about the benefits and potential challenges that this type of monitor may provide. The FDA has approved several different types of monitors, however this bibliography will be discussing monitors strictly used to monitor basic vital signs.
