Summary: Criminology Unit 3 – AC 2.3
Understand Rules in Relation to the Use of Evidence in Criminal Cases
In criminal cases, not all evidence collected during an investigation can be used in court. For
evidence to be accepted, it must meet three key legal requirements: it must be reliable,
relevant, and admissible. These rules exist to ensure that verdicts are safe, fair, and based on
trustworthy information.
Reliability of Evidence
For evidence to be reliable, it must be credible, authentic, and accurate.
