3.1 Contractors

standard , at the option of the engineer what other standards shall
the contractor be certified too ? If no standard is required what
shall the contractor prove ? Ans: W47.1

What processes are covered by this standard ? Ans: SMAW,
GMAW, MCAW, FCAW, SAW, ESW, EGW, SW
Filler metals and allied materials are classified under what
standard ? Ans: CSA W48
What processes filler metals and other materials not covered
under CSA W48? Ans: Stud welding is not covered under CSA
W48. It shall conform to the requirements of clause 3.1.2.2

3.1.3 Prequalified joints
What processes are deemed pre qualified as long as they conform

welding qualification providing that welding procedures also
conform to clause 4,5,10 Ans: SMAW, SAW, FCAW, MCAW (spray
transfer) and GMAW (spray transfer) as long as they conform to
clause 10 shall be deemed as prequalified .
