Planning Your Internship

Placement and Schedule
I will be doing my internship at Aiken Elementary School, in Aiken, South Carolina. My
mentor will be my principal, Ms. Cindy Hewitt. Aiken Elementary is a pre-kindergarten through
fifth grade school with approximately 750 students. The classes at my school consist of two four-
year-old kindergarten, one pre-school and one elementary special education, five kindergarten,
six first grade, five second, third, fourth and fifth grade. There are also two resource teachers,
two speech pathologist, one guidance counselor, one school psychologist, a reading coach and a
reading interventionist. We are a Title I school. My internship is scheduled from November 5-
December 16, 2020. During this time, I will spent approximately 15 hours/week in leadership
activities, discussion with my mentor, and reflecting on my role as a leader.

ELCC 2: “...sustain a school culture and instructional program conducive to student
learning through collaboration, trust, and a personalized learning environment…” I will conduct
a survey then develop and implement a plan for kindergarten teachers focusing on their
