Question 1 (30 marks)
1.1 Explain in simple terms to an Intermediate Phase learner the
difference among improper, mixed, and proper fractions. (6 marks)
When we work with fractions, we need to know that there are three
main types: proper fractions, improper fractions, and mixed
fractions. Let’s look at them one by one in a simple way.
1. Proper Fractions
o A proper fraction is when the top number (numerator) is
smaller than the bottom number (denominator).
o This means the fraction is less than 1 whole.
