Plan
Teenage pregnancy and adolescent motherhood have long been a concern in the
United States. This is due to the negative effects it can have not only on the young mother
and father, but the new child as well. According to Brouwer et al, (2019) adolescent
pregnancy and motherhood can bring about difficulties such as mistreatment of the new
child, a decline in the mental heath of the young mother, along with a failure to complete
their education. The following program will address the difficulties and needs of
adolescent mothers while providing resources and support teams to help the adolescent
mother participants succeed in life.

Population
Adolescent females, as defined by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention

by the CDC, in 2020 there were 10,652,932 adolescent females in the United States. Their
data also revealed that there were 3,667,758 children born in 2022. Out of the 10,652,932
adolescent females in the U.S., 143,789 gave birth in 2022. These numbers equate to 13.6
births for every 1,000 adolescent females in the United States. Although these numbers are
lower than previous years, adolescent mothers still make up a large portion of the U.S.
