Assignment 5 Semester 2 2025
2 2025
Unique Number
Due date: 15 September 2025
WHERE DO I FIT IN NOW? (200 words)
In this section you need to reflect on where you fit into the economic landscape painted by the background
facts. This reflection should include:
An evaluation of where you fit in (the site https://wid.world/simulator/ might help you to do this a bit
more objectively);
A description of what this means in terms of your day-to-day life – your challenges and your
privileges; and
An evaluation of what you think about this location – how this location makes you feel.
This must be at least 200 words long.
When I reflect on the global economic landscape shaped by extreme inequality, I realise that
my own position falls somewhere in the middle. Using the WID simulator as a guide, I can see
that compared to people in countries like the DRC, where children are forced into dangerous
cobalt mining, I am part of a global minority that enjoys relative privilege. I have access to
education, healthcare, technology, and freedom of choice in ways that many people simply do
not. At the same time, I am not in the same category as billionaires like Elon Musk, whose
daily increase in wealth surpasses what entire communities may earn in a lifetime.
