ii. Statement of the Problem

Despite inclusive education policies in many countries, including South Africa, learners
with diverse educational needs continue to experience barriers to learning. A significant
contributor to this challenge is the lack of adequate teacher training in inclusive
pedagogies. Many teachers feel unprepared to identify, accommodate, and support
learners with disabilities or learning difficulties. This research will explore how
insufficient teacher training affects the implementation of inclusive education in primary
schools and propose measures to address the gap.
