E-Learning Activity: Conflict Resolution in Peer Relationships
A. Lesson Topic & Essential Concept
Topic of lesson: Conflict Resolution Strategies
Essential Concept: Students will learn how to apply the correct
conflict resolution strategies in real life scenarios involving peer
conflict.
B1. Strategy for Demo
The strategy I will be using is to demonstrate this essential concept is the
think-aloud method. I will be able to model the decision-making process
involved in resolving peer conflict by walking students through real life
scenarios. I will describe the emotions being felt, analyze the situation, and
explain aloud which conflict resolution strategy is appropriate and why. The
modeling will be video recorded and shared online; it will include narration
and prompts within for reflection.
B2. Use of Digital Tools
I will be using two digital tools to deliver the think aloud demonstration. I
will be using Edpuzzle and Flip. Edpuzzle allows me to upload video
demonstration and add interactive questions to key points to fully engage
the students as well as check for understanding. After viewing the video,
students will need to use Flip to record their own short repones reflecting
on the scenario and explain what they would do in a similar situation. The
tools I will be using will support both asynchronous and synchronous
learning.
B3. Practice and Feedback
This strategy will allow students to observe how to apply conflict resolution
skills in a context and then immediately practice using those skills in a
digital interactive setting. After the think aloud video, students will then
complete the branching scenario activity using Genially. In this activity, they
will be presented with a new conflict situation and then asked to decide on
the character based on what they have just learned. Esch decision will
trigger specific feedback that will guide them through the consequences of
their choice, which provides an opportunity for the students to reflect,
correct misunderstandings, and expand their understanding.
