SOSHANGANA TOWNSHIP
1. TERMS OF REFERENCE
On 1 October 2025, I was commissioned by Ms Tancred, the Chairperson of the
Civic Organisation, to investigate possible ways of securing an adequate and
sustainable water supply for the residents of Soshangana township, located in
Bakwena Municipality. The purpose of the report is to explore feasible water solutions
and recommend viable strategies to improve service delivery, particularly regarding the
critical water shortages affecting residents. I, Thomas Mboya, an appointed Community
Development Officer, conducted this investigation and hereby submit this report to the
Chairperson by 30 November 2025 as instructed.
2. PROCEDURES
2.1 Community Interviews
Conducted structured interviews with selected community members to gather firsthand
accounts of the water scarcity problem and its impact on daily life.
2.2 Meetings with Municipal Officials
Held scheduled meetings with representatives from the Bakwena Municipality Water
Services Department to obtain clarity on current water provision strategies, bottlenecks,
and future plans.
2.3 Site Inspection and Observations
Visited key locations in and around Soshangana township to assess existing water
infrastructure, including boreholes, water tanks, and unused municipal pipes.
