PORTFOLIO SEMESTER 1 2025
UNIQUE NO.
DUE DATE: MAY/JUNE 2025
, LRM3701 PORTFOLIO 2025 S1
PART 2: ASSESSMENT QUESTIONS for LRM3701.
1. REFLECTION ON ASSESSMENT 2 AND 3 (14 MARKS)
Competencies gained from Assessment 2 (5 marks):
From Assessment 2, I learnt a lot about the importance of workplace ethics, managing
grievances, and how to deal with dismissal situations in a legal and fair way. I now
understand how the Labour Relations Act protects both employees and employers, and
how fair procedures must always be followed when making decisions that affect
people's jobs. I also became more confident in reading labour-related case studies and
applying labour laws to real-life situations.
Competencies gained from Assessment 3 (5 marks):
Assessment 3 helped me improve my skills in conflict resolution and collective
bargaining. I learnt about different negotiation styles, how to conduct fair negotiations,
and the steps needed to resolve workplace disputes effectively. It also taught me about
the role of unions, how strikes are handled, and how communication plays a key role in
labour relations.
How these competencies will help me as a labour relations practitioner (4 marks):
These skills are important for my future career because, in the workplace, I will often
need to guide both employers and employees on their rights and responsibilities.
Understanding conflict resolution, ethical decision-making, and how to handle
dismissals or retrenchments will help me build trust, manage problems before they
grow, and make sure the workplace stays peaceful and fair for everyone.
2. ETHICS (6 MARKS)
