Introduction
My current teaching practice is in a suburban middle school setting. My
position is teaching direct instruction in a variety of subject areas to
students with emotional or behavioral disabilities. The numbers of students
within my classroom fluctuate with an average of ten students. The
students within the classroom come from a variety of different
socioeconomic classes, cultural backgrounds, and different educational
experiences. The focus of this paper is to modify the content, process, or
the product of a specific class lesson in order to meet individual students’
needs or differences.

focusing on the associative, commutative, and distributive properties.
