, Personality Report on N
Behaviour is an aspect of personality, which is characterised by various traits and dimensions
that influence how individuals interact. With this in mind, the question "How do I appear in
interpersonal relationships?" was chosen as a topic of study for N, who has been anonymised
in this report. This report aims to explore how N perceives her own behaviour in social
situations, and how others perceive her. N believes her shy personality hinders her from
building the relationships she desires, seeking improvements in the skills and traits necessary
to forge cordial bonds with other.
Biographical Information
Participant N, a 20-year-old female who spent most of her adolescence in Germany, grew up
in a family with a younger brother. Despite her parents' divorce when she was 15, N's
childhood was marked by cherished memories of family campings and trips. While N
developed open emotional expressiveness through frequent conversations with her mother,
connecting with her father proved challenging, worsening post-divorce, a common
occurrence in divorced families (Kalmijn, 2013). In school, N's shyness made it difficult to
make friends, but she maintained a close circle of trusted peers.
N values kindness, honesty, and friendship and strives to be more open to others. She
acknowledges her strengths in social curiosity and friendliness but perceives herself as shy
and socially anxious at times, often concerned about others' opinions. N copes with stress by
seeking solitude, engaging in activities like reading or going for walks. She embraces change
and enjoys exploring new experiences. While seemingly unaffected by losses, N reflects on
missed opportunities and contemplates alternative paths often. Despite this, she continues to
prioritise personal growth and positive change.
