Government administration ethics is one of the special ethics. Government
administration ethics is the application of philosophical studies in the implementation of
government administration and seeks to provide various ethical principles, standard measures,
behavioral guidelines, and moral policies that need to be carried out by every administrator in
order to implement good governance for the benefit of the people.
As a field of study, the position of government ethics is partly included in the science
of public administration and partly covered by the scope of philosophy studies. Thus, the ethics
of government administration is no longer completely empirical as is the case with public
administration, but is mainly ormatical. This means that the ethics of government
administration try to determine the norms regarding what should be done by each government
administrator in carrying out the actions of his office. This field of knowledge is expected to
provide ethical principles, standard measures, behavioral guidelines, and moral policies that
need to be carried out by every administrator in order to implement good governance for the
benefit of the people.
Ethics of government administration as a special variety in the scope of ethics that
discusses goodness, ethical actions, and moral behavior from human beings must be a panacea
against the ill diseases that plague a society. There is no other field that can illuminate every
crime, cruelty, lie, destruction, and misappropriation that society is facing. Therefore, the ethics
of government administration must be given an understanding to every community so that
people's lives run peacefully.
The field of government administration ethics because it concerns the life of a nation,
the welfare of all people, and the welfare of every citizen, which is very important, must be
based on noble principles in human life and the main values in the life of society
The three noble principles in human life that a person must embrace and implement are
as follows.
1) Integrity
The Liang Gie (2003), provides the limitation that the integrity of the character is the perfection
of a person's personal character in living his life and carrying out his work. This integrity of
character includes 3 main virtues in life in the form of 1) honesty; 2) loyalty; 3) service.
