When the delivery of glucose is interrupted, there is a reversible failure of brain
function. As result the body has very potent means of protecting glucose supply
to brain.
If the glucose level falls too far , the body start getting into territory where brain
function is deteriorating. This progresses through cognitive dysfunction to
impaired convulsion, consciousness and coma.
Hypoglycaemia: not just adverse effect of diabetes medication:
Other than extra insulin production, there are many other causes of
hypoglycaemia.
Catastrophic hypoglycaemia
An individual with type 1 diabetes from age 11 developed hypoglycaemia
recently at the age of 23. The individual's insulin dose has been reduced and a
diagnostics continuous glucose monitor had been booked. The individual had
