The nature of family life is no longer what it was ten years ago. The usual stresses
of marriage increased with the growing trend of people moving away from their
relatives, and countries of origin in search of a livelihood.
The Arab world is not excluded from profound socio-economic changes. This is
evident from the rise in the number of couples choosing to separate in the Middle
East and North Africa.
Experts from Morocco believe this trend has been driven by a combination of
economic pressures, evolving social norms, and legal reforms. Above all, they see the
changing role of women who have developed an awareness of their civil rights.
