SLIDE 1 Attention I have some shocking numbers for you.
Did you know that in 2014, one billion
children between two and seventeen years
old were abused? And that of the one
billion abused children, one thousand five
hundred eighty abused children died as a
result of the abuse?
SLIDE 2 These numbers are way too big. Child
abuse is a big problem. I think it is
avoidable and the way the government
should avoid this is to educate everybody,
children and adults, about the signs of
child abuse. If there is more awareness
about the signs, there will be less victims.
SLIDE 3 Organization My name is (………) and today I will tell you
more about what child abuse is, the
different types of child abuse, the signs of
child abuse, why I think the government
should create more awareness about signs
of child abuse and how the government
should do that.
SLIDE 4 Background Child abuse is any action by another
information person, child or adult, that causes
significant harm to a child. An abused child
will often experience more than one type of
abuse. It often happens over a period of
time, rather than being an one-off event.
SLIDE 5 There are different types of child abuse. If
there is child abuse, it can be physical
abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, or sexual
abuse. Domestic and family violence is also
associated with child abuse, because a
child’s basic needs are less likely to be met
in a family where violence occurs.
SLIDE 6 Signs of abuse can be hard to detect,
because the signs aren’t always obvious,
and a child might not tell anyone what is
happening to them. It is important to
create more awareness of the signs, so
that child abuse can be detected early.
SLIDE 7 Examples of the signs of child abuse are
frequent absences from school, injuries
that don’t match the given explanation or
injuries on the body where children usually
do not get hurt, poor hygiene, the parents
shows little concern for the child and
difficulty walking or sitting.
