SECOND ASSIGNMENT (ASSESSMENT NUMBER 14)
• You will be required to write a literature review for your second assignment.
• Your literature review must be a maximum of five (5) pages (excluding the front page, table
of contents, and references).
Your literature review should summarise the following themes:
1. Summarize the psychological concepts of bullshitting and lying by providing an
overview of the core aspects discussed in the literature.
2. outline the factors that affect and the implications of bullshitting and lying for the
individual and society by providing evidence from previous research.
3. outline the different methodological approaches to measure bullshitting and lying.
How do you complete the SECOND ASSIGNMENT?
When completing this assignment, answer the following questions (and provide evidence from
the literature):
1. What are the psychological concepts of bullshitting and lying, and why is it important to
study them?
2. What differentiates bullshitting and lying?
3. What are the possible predictors and consequences of bullshitting and lying?
4. Consider the context of South Africa and outline at least three reasons why it is important to
study bullshitting and lying. Provide a justification.
