Assignment 2 2024
Detailed Solutions, References & Explanations

Unique number: 651347

Due Date: 28 June 2024
QUESTION 1
1.1 Tom displays language that is characteristic of the later stages of the preschool years,
specifically the telegraphic stage. At this stage, children are able to express themselves
using more complex sentences and an expanding vocabulary. They are also able to engage
in and retell more complex stories and conversations.

One example of Tom's language development at this stage is his ability to retell the bedtime
stories that his granny tells him every evening. This shows that he not only comprehends
the stories but also has the language skills to retell them in his own words. For example,
when Tom retells the story of "The Three Little Pigs" to his peers at the daycare centre, he
uses more complex sentences and vocabulary, showing that he is able to understand and
retell more complex narratives. This indicates that he is able to process and express himself
in a way that is more advanced for his age.
