● how the course will meet the learner’s needs
Why you have chosen this syllabus type:
I have chosen the multi-syllabus to ensure all the student's needs are met and that the
lessons will not be boring and always the same.
Skill-based syllabus looks into improving his skills, mainly reading, speaking and listening. I
didn't include any writing activities, as a student already feels confident in a writing skill,
so I included some writing homework for the student to present in the next lesson.
Lessons are mainly based around speaking and listening, as that is what the student feels
like are his biggest weaknesses.
Lexical syllabus allows the student to work on his vocabulary. I focused mainly on
vocabulary that the student is actually interested in and it would be beneficial for his job.
I used the functional syllabus to perform a role-play with my student for a job interview. I
feel like given his ambitions about a job prospect, it would be useful.
Topic-based syllabus focuses mainly on themes which form a basis for vocabulary,
functions and skills practice. I have chosen themes that the student has interest in and
would be beneficial for him. I wanted the student to become more confident to be able to
speak about his interests like music, films, football and science. We will look into some
articles about current affairs and also listen to some music and a movie scene to improve
his listening skills.
