TOPIC SEARCH STRATEGY: Nurse burnout during a pandemic 2 Topic Search Strategy The coronavirus pandemic has caused an increased need for nurses to care for the patients. This has not only created an extra workload for the patients, but it has caused burnout as well. The topic delegated to my group is nurse burnout during a pandemic. This topic not only focuses on the increased workload of the nurses, but it dives deeper into the mental aspect as well. Nurses are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, and more due to the pandemic. Evidence of burnout is proven; according to a study involving 1563 health staff, 50.7% reported depression, 44.7% reported anxiety, and 36.1% reported to be suffering from sleep problems (Mehdi, et al., 2020). When addressing this problem, the main goal of this paper is to demonstrate the mental health decline due to nurse burnout to prevent potential negative patient outcomes. Levels of Evidence
