PATIENT SAFETY AND RISK FOR FALL NURSING CARE
The Institute of Medicine defines patient safety as "the prevention of harm to patients." The necessity to increase patient safety through the development of a care system of delivery that focuses on error prevention and error learning has been highlighted by others who have explained this definition. A strong, effective patient safety plan depends on findings from research to continuously enhance patient safety procedures and create a long-lasting learning and improvement culture. For nurses, treating patients with safe, high-quality care comes first. Nurses are in an exceptional position to protect patients from injury and enhance the quality and safety of healthcare provided in all settings since nursing care includes all areas of care delivery. As a result, nurses have to be at the center of all systems and procedures for patient safety used by healthcare providers.
