Facilities Planning on Material Handling Equipment
2 Facilities Planning Introduction Facility planning is a critical organizational process that addresses two main logistics decisions: facility layout and location. The first decision concerns the layout and arrangement of small facilities to reduce material handling and other related expenses. On the other hand, location refers to the country, city, or physical location within a geographical area. Both decisions play a vital role in reducing total logistics costs since a facility's location largely impacts insurance, construction costs, local taxes, and interfacility costs such as material handling expenses and material handling equipment's cost.
