This test includes learning unit 1.1 (Nursing theories) which covers the concept of nursing, the first nursing theories, the nursing metaparadigm, the value of nursing theories, and Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Learning unit 1.2 (Concepts relating to nursing care and the practice of nursing) covers the four areas of nursing practice, health, wellness, wellbeing, illness and disease, the wellness/illness continuum, the 7 dimensions of health, the 5 stages of illness, the nurses' role in health promotion, stages of development as well as the needs to be met during the stages, factors influencing health, and different healthcare delivery systems. Learning unit 1.3 (nursing in a culturally diverse society) covers the 3 views of health belief, verbal and non-verbal communication, guidelines for communication, culturally responsive care, health-related beliefs in cultures, integrative and complementary therapy, alternative healthcare, western medicine, traditional medicine, and effective relationships with patients by building culturally appropriate communication. Learning unit 1.4 (the scientific nursing process) covers the nursing process, the steps in the nursing process, and activities associated with them, guidelines for writing nursing care plans, subjective and objective data, the primary source of data, different types of interviews, physical examinations and the purpose, examples of a diagnostic test, validation of data, principles of record keeping, directive, and non-directive interviews, different types of interview questions, stages of an interview and different nursing diagnoses.
