LESSON THEME: Design a facial mask

PRIOR KNOWLEDGE: Learners would have knowledge of Covid-19 protocols and the steps
in managing the virus.

Learners would have prior knowledge of the design process from
grade 8.



INTRODUCTION: I will show the learners a video about deisgning a product before
beginning with the slideshow, which will indicate to the learners the
topic that is the design process. I will then ask the learners what do
they understand about the design brief if they can give the sub
headings of a design brief (specifications, Constrains, Materials and
drawings)



NEW KNOWLEDGE: - Explain the design process.(IDMEC)

-Make laerners understand how to write a design brief.

-explain that the design process consist out of constraints,
specifications, materials and drawings.

-Define new keywords.

-why its important

-types of sketches you use in the design brief ( free hand, 3D
drawings etc)



LESSON METHOD/PRESENTATION: I will be explain the content to the learners

The lesson will take the form of a Question and Answer
lesson.



TEACHER ACTIVITIES: I must find the appropriate video to show

I must prepare the PowerPoint presentation. Set up the projector
for the presentation and make sure I have sufficient copies of the
homework.



LEARNER ACTVITY: learners will discus and share information about the topic.

Learners must take notes of the requirements of the project

Learners must complete the written part of the project.



THEORETICAL PART OF THE PROBLEM

The world was hit with the Covid-19 pandemic. Learners were then required by law to wear a mask
to school at all times when they are interacting with others around them. There is often the need for
the school to keep extra masks at school for learners who do not have one or forgot to come to
school with one. as a teacher I was asked to come up with a project to solve the potential mask
shortage issue the school might run into.

STEP ONE IN THE TECHNOLOGYY PROCESS

ANALYSES THE PROBLEM, NEED OR WANT.

Knitting of facemask and using simple materials to make a mask.

IDENTIFY THE REAL PROBLEM

The real problem is the effective designing of a mask that can be reused or easily made again.

The measurement tools must be simple and not costly.

The facemask must be made using recyclable or available material.

GATHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROBLEM NEED OR WANT

Learners do not know how to measure or cut the materials which they chose.
