- First step: Not respond immediately!!
- When someone is asking for advice or for help, it is important to fully listen and
understand what they’re seeking advice for.
- Digest it a bit and then be able to give advice that is relevant to their situation
independent of your opinion.
- Understand why people are seeking you for advice.
- Listening first is key.
PP Jeannie Devereaux - Advice Skills
You as a consultant have a duty to:
- Remain objective
- No bias
- Assess the clinic
- Employ research skills
- Be analytical
- Devise a plan
- Present to the clinic
Assessment
- Which product/ treatment is the clinic seeking to buy?
- Does this fit their business model?
- Is the new product/ treatment necessary?
- Do they have the staff to operate the equipment?
- Who is employed in this business?
- Is there already equipment that is not being used that is suitable?
- What has motivated the clinic to pursue this product or treatment?
- How many therapy rooms are in the clinic?
- How many clinicals are employed?
- Do they have receptionists? Who else is employed in the clinic?
- What treatments are currently employed?
- What are the gaps in products/ treatments within the clinic already?
- Will this new treatment become a financial burden?
- Does the clinic have spare cash flow to purchase the new product or to be approved
for a loan?
- They may need to wait or to promote first before purchasing.
Pre-research
- Research similar products/ treatments distributed by other brands
- How do they compare in technology?
- How do they compare in quality, service, and prices?
- Quality always precedes price.
- How do the ingredients compare?
- Is this a gimmick or real?
- Is the product/ treatment safe? Does it have CE?
