Analysis
Force field analysis is a tool used to assess how change is influenced. Coughlan (2014) describes
force field analysis as a problem-solving and decision-making method in identifying and managing forces
to implement change in a program. The force field is not a static matter; instead, it evolves (Swanson and
Creed, 2014). Prior to addressing an issue, organizational leaders should explore and evaluate the
internal and external organization forces that contribute to an organization’s strengths and challenges.
(Walden University, n.d.). Every organization has its strengths and areas of development.
The United States Department of Veterans Affairs- Post 9/11 Transition and Case Management Program
The United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) provides a plethora of services and
programs benefiting military veterans, their family members, and caregivers. The Veterans Health
Administration (VHA) is under the auspices of the VA and is the America’s largest integrated health
care system, providing care at 1,293 health care facilities, including 171 medical centers and 1,112
outpatient clinics
of varying complexity- serving 9 million enrolled Veterans each year (U.S. Department of Veterans
Affairs, n.d.).
One of the services VHA offers is the Post 9/11 Military to VA Case Management Program
(M2VA). This program is intended to assist military service members, veterans, their family members,
and caregivers with navigating the VA healthcare system through integrated care coordination and
advocacy support. M2VA licensed clinical social workers are charged with collaborating with the
Department of Defense (DoD) and other community partners to facilitate transition of military service
members’ medical care into the VA’s system. They also provide military service members and veterans
case management with education on VA eligibility and services, transition and reintegration support,
identification of VA services and community resources to address one’s needs, coordination and transfer
