Why groups fail
People problems
- No attempt to get to know each other
- Dominating others/monopolize
- Silent or talkative
- Ideas are ridiculed
Process problems
- No ground rules
- No agreed agendas
- No specific roles
- No deadlines
- Late meetings
- No record made during meeting
Personality and group roles
Extroversion & introversion
To the outer world of activity and spoken words or to the inner world of thoughts and emotions.
Sensing & intuition
In the form of known facts and familiar terms or in the form of possibilities or new potential.
Thinking & feeling
On the basis of logic and objective considerations or on the basis of personal values.
Structured & flexible
In a structured way (making decisions and knowing where you stand) or in a flexible way (discovering
life as you go along)
Coach = try to create harmony in the world around them
Crusader = give importance to particular thoughts, ideas or beliefs
Explorer = promote exploration of new and better ways of doing things
Innovator = use their imagination to create new and different ideas and perspectives
Sculptor = brings things to fruition by getting things done and doing it now
Curator = brings clarity to the inner world of information, ideas and understanding
Conductor = introduce organization and logical structure into the wat things are done
Scientist = provide explanation of how and why things happen
