It remains stable at high temperatures – meaning it is better for cooking because it is less likely for it to become saturated (holding a lot of
fat)
It can reduce the risk of heart disease, strokes and breast cancer
This type of fat also helps the body absorb nutrients
It provides energy and it insulates our body
It keeps our skin and hair healthy
Monounsaturated fat also keeps your heart healthy by reducing total cholesterol ( cholesterol clogs up arteries)
It is needed for normal cell growth as it regulates bodily functions – like the brain
HOW MUCH DO YOU NEED?
Even though it is healthy, it is very important to NOT consume too much. No more than 25 – 35% should come from fat in our daily diets
