The theory of caring is an integral part of nursing practice. Jean Watson’s theory of caring when applied to practice enhances the nurse patient relationship which in turn promotes healing. Watson utilizes ten curative factors to make a relationship between the nurse and patient. These curative factors are where caring is applied to nursing practice: 1. Formation of humanistic: this is the values that are brought into the caring process 2. Instillation of faith: the hope or set of beliefs that are brought in by each individual in the relationship 3. Cultivation of sensitivity to one’s self and to others: this is the ability to look beyond one’s own beliefs and be objective to another’s practices 4. Development of a helping: the ability of trust that is fostered throughout a nurse patient relationship
