BTEC LEVEL 3 IT Unit 1 – Communication and employability Assignment 1
M1 - Explain mechanisms that can reduce the impact of communication barriers
Which mechanisms can reduce the impact of communication barriers?
There are many barriers to effective communication however there are also many
mechanisms to reduce these barriers.
Background noise
Background noise can be a communication barrier as it prevents the people
conversing from hearing each other which can lead to misunderstandings. This can
be resolved by simply moving to a less populated area or quiet area such as a

Distractions
Distractions such as mobile phones can be easily reduced by turning them off and
placing them away from you while listening to a presentation or trying to write a letter

others accents and the way they behave communication will be able to stay
effective.
